Where can I find educational material about direct mail and information about USPS regulations?

Answered by Suzanne Morgan, founder, Print Buyers Online.com

Question:
For years I have been more focused on print production and graphics. However, I am moving more into the direct mail side of printing and need to know the rules and regulations of printing for mail, US postal regulations, different ways to mail, bulk discounts, etc. Where can I go to get this information? Is there one central place on the USPS website or publications that USPS publishes for professionals like me?

Answer:
The United States Postal Service (USPS) actually has quite a bit of good educational information on their website, including free publications such as, Direct Mail by the Numbers, a business rate calculator, the Domestic Mail Manual, frequently asked questions, resources, postage rates and fees, and a listing of free direct mail seminars. The most useful information for you will probably be located in their "Grow Your Business" section of the site at www.usps.com. Once there, you have to click around a bit to see everything that's available.

EU Services (www.euservices.com), a direct mail printer and mailer in Maryland, also has a lot of great educational material on their website concerning direct mail.

I hope this helps.
