How can I save money on my direct mail fulfillment process?

Answered by the experts at EU Services

Question:
How can I save money on my direct mail fulfillment process?

Answer:
Here is just one way to save money on your direct mail fulfillment process: The time and cost savings associated with automated envelope insertion is tremendous when compared to hand insertion processes. If you follow these guidelines you will be safe for machine insertion, but check with your direct mail provider for specifics because some exceptions can be accomodated:

  • Keep your inserts no thicker than 1/4" and no smaller than 3" x 5"

  • Make sure the envelope is at least 1/4" larger on either side of the insert (and don't forget to factor in the thickness of the insert, which may impact true envelope clearance)

  • Pick an envelope that does not open on the side

  • Limit or eliminate nested inserts - some direct mail providers can perform nesting inline during insertion.

  • If inserts are stapled, place staples at two corners or fold the sets
